A bursary-funded programme for fifteen young creatives aged 18-21 to plan our Youth Private Views at the Gallery

October 2023 - March 2024

Apply by Monday 4 September

About

Are you aged 18-21 with an interest in cultural events planning and production? Do you find yourself going to gigs, workshops and other events and wonder what would happen if you had the chance to plan something yourself? Or do you think it’s something you might be interested in, but want a chance to figure out what’s involved?

The new Young Producers group at NPG aims to support young creatives with ideas, interests, intrigue and imagination, to co-plan and deliver events for peers in our newly re-opened Gallery. At NPG we look after the world’s greatest collection of portraits. Spanning six centuries, the artworks reveal the inspiring and sometimes surprising personal stories that have shaped, and continue to shape a nation – from global icons to local champions, national treasures to unsung heroes. Find out more about our Gallery and search the Collection.

The group of Young Producers will have the exclusive opportunity to collaboratively organise and deliver our Young People’s Private Views for 2023/24 – 2 late-night free events of our temporary exhibitions programme. Think live music, performances, film screenings, artist talks, workshops, quiet spaces and more. In November 2023, the private view will respond to exhibition by David Hockney, Drawing from Life and in March 2024, it will respond to The Time is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure.

The programme offers creative and professional development for 15 Young Producers interested in using the Collection and spaces as a platform to test ideas, learn new skills, and develop a network of peers. During your time as a Young Producer, you’ll meet a wide range of people working with the Gallery, gaining an insight into the types of careers available as well as collaborating with creative industry professionals.

This is a great opportunity to share your voice and work alongside experts in a leading Gallery in central London. We’ll draw inspiration from the artworks, and you’ll see the events come to life.
