Three creative workshops exploring our connection to nature from a decolonial perspective. Infused with nature walks, discussions, creative exercises and storytelling, we encourage creativity and how we can engage with climate action in an artistic and playful way.

About

Are you BIPOC and from Haringey? Do you feel called to explore local biodiversity in a playful and meaningful way? Have you felt excluded from the conversations surrounding climate change and action?

Driven by a decolonial perspective, we are inviting BIMPOC* (Black, Indigenous, Multiracial people of colour) to reimagine their futures through a series of three exploratory workshops! Together we will be examining how to deepen local connection to nature in Haringey. Infused with nature walks, discussions, creative exercises and storytelling, we encourage creativity and how we can engage with climate action in an artistic and playful way. Your creative responses will be recorded and placed in a digital archive on pachapeople.com and included within the PACHA installation which will be exhibited at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre in Tottenham.

*we are particularly keen to work with African, Carribean, Latinx, Turkish, Asian and Kurdish communities in Haringey.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

A deep dive into traditional ecological knowledge, decolonisation and intersectional environmentalism. Workshop includes meaning making with Pacha People's Andrea Ling and guest speaker Sandra Salazar D’eca of @gogrowwithlove. ABOUT PACHA - An interactive-touch-audio installation of plants and soil

August 11-13 2022 at Bernie Grant Arts Centre

Designed to rekindle our bond with nature, PACHA is an interactive-touch-sound installation of plants and soil that tells stories of reimagined futures, ecological symbiosis and ancestral knowledge. This decolonial response to the climate crisis celebrates the voices of Black, Indigenous, Multi-racial People of Colour (BIMPoC) and offers an alternative way forward.

PACHA is led by inter-disciplinary artist Andrea Ling & has been commissioned by Good Chance Theatre. It is kindly supported by Arts Council England and the Awesome Foundation.
