Household Festival for Contemporary Art

About

Contemporary Art | Domestic Spaces | Ormeau Road 23rd — 25th of August 2013 Based on the huge success of last year's event and the great feedback we received, Household Collective are excited to announce that we will again organise Household Festival on and around the Ormeau Road area in South Belfast this year (Friday the 23rd until Sunday the 25th of August 2013). Household Festival is an event that encourages audiences to re-negotiate the way in which they view and interact with art in the city. It offers an opportunity to experience new work in an unrestrictive and non-commercial context by inviting members of the public into selected artists' homes and non-art spaces. There is a large concentration of creative professionals living in South Belfast, who for the duration of the festival, will open up their households to showcase a variety of work, from fine art, performance and installation to live music, contemporary dance, screenings, dinners, talks and discussions. This year we are working in partnership with PS² Gallery, a Belfast city centre organisation whose focus is on urban intervention and social interaction by artists and cultural practitioners, architects, multidisciplinary groups and theorists. The festival will involve residents of over 50 houses on and around the Ormeau Road and over 100 artists and creative professionals from across the city. We expect over thousands of visitors over the course of the weekend as well as 200+ guests at our fundraising event on the 9th of August at the Pavilion, Ormeau Road. This project is kindly supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, local businesses, venues and the Ormeau Road community. If you would like more information about the festival please do not hesitate to contact us at ormeauhousehold@gmail.com or visit www.householdbelfast.co.uk The Household Team: Sighle Bhreathnach-Cashell, Eoin Dara, Ciara Hickey, Alissa Kleist, Kim McAleese, supported by Tom Hughes, Ruaidhri Lennon and Faye Hobson
