Fred Ingrams paints the fertile black earth in vivid colours

Fred is keen to debunk two commonly held misconceptions about the Fens | Their only asset is the boundless sky: “It’s not, it’s the land: where else will you find acres of pumpkins, all glowing orange in the sun?”  |  They’re grey and gloomy: “I may turn up the volume a bit, but all the colours in my pictures are drawn from life. The red in that one was weed-killered potato tops, believe it or not; the blue-green in that one is leeks in the early morning.”
