Live Show on 16th September

About

On 16th September, aficionados of Brighton's contemporary arts scene are invited to gather at Geisha Arts forAigatist, a live show celebrating the launch of eagerly awaited new work from Brighton's own Jim Sanders, fresh from a critically acclaimed series of projects with the Phoenix Gallery. Sanders' previous works include some of the most instantly recognizable features of the Geisha Arts collection. His giant dog sculpture greets visitors as they climb the stairs to the gallery space, and his spiritual totems, made from found and recycled objects and weathered by the elements, peer down at visitors from atop the outdoor terrace. These rusting and decomposing monoliths, replete with Catholic imagery, are typical of an artist whose work is obsessed with the universal human experiences of birth, love, sex and death. Sanders' skill lies in finding an existential attraction in this destructive cycle, appealing to the animal instinct of the casual observer and drawing them into his world. Aigatist — Live Show and Exhibit Jim Sanders (Boca2Mouth) Featuring supporting work from Jo Peel (Scrawl Collective) Live Performance Art from Boca2Mouth collective Complementary autumn punch for all guests, on arrival from 6-7pm.
