A solo-show by MOCKSIM
About
Curated by Beth Troakes this exhibition uses materials created from Mocksim's recent project Missing You during which Point-of-Delivery Signatures and other information was obtained from courier company parcel- tracking websites. The work will include a new film with a score by composer Stace Constantinou. A number of prints, in effect signed signatures, will be given away on the opening night.Elements from his critically acclaimed series Contra-Invention, photographs by traffic wardens of illegally parked cars, will also be on display. (Contra-Invention was nominated for the Deutsche BoàËrse Photography Prize 2012 and has since toured Europe as part of From Here On originally at Les Recontres D'Arles 2011 and at Centre d'Art Santa Moàâ¬nica, Barcelona in 2013. The catalogue was on Martin Parr's Best Books List.)
Each year the next consecutive frame from a simulation is rendered to create a large print working title Yearly Print Series - and a selection of these will be on show.
At the opening event on Thursday 5th June Mocksim will direct his clown (former Teletubby Dave Thompson) in a run of Rearing which was first executed at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in 2006. Rearing utilises twelve dozen eggs contained in three children's potties.
