Ludo: The Chaos Theory

About

The Outsiders welcome Parisian artist Ludo to their London gallery space with new work in a solo exhibition titled ‘The Chaos Theory'. England's capital city takes centre stage from 10 October as Ludo's canvas following successful openings in New York and outdoor installations in Paris on the Centre d'art et de culture Georges Pompidou's square. Arriving from the urban influenced sphere but blooming as well on the contemporary scene, the French artist continues to expand upon his recognisable aesthetic, this time by rendering a Lepidoptera (order of butterflies) migration and organic, anatomic plates. Through his battalion of butterflies, Ludo references the accelerated pace of life in which people continually strive to keep up with and the ongoing race against the clock. The typical ephemeral butterfly image is reincarnated by Ludo's solid and anatomical depictions, creating creatures that possess strength and durability and emit images of war and combat weaponry. Ludo's stylised futuristic bugs remind the viewer of detailed diagrams from traditional anatomy manuals with a contemporary and updated veneer. On June 24 Gavin Elder, notorious for his collaboration with numerous artists such as David Lynch, followed Ludo during an entire day in and around his studio. As a result, comes a video about the preparation of the solo show that is going to take place at The Outsiders London, Steve Lazarides' gallery.
