Victoria Miro will present a new body of work by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama focusing on the motif of pumpkins. Since her earliest formative years Kusama has been fascinated by the natural world, particularly with vegetal and floral life, but the pumpkin continues to occupy a special place in her iconography. She has described her images of pumpkins as a form of self-portraiture and admires the vegetable for their hardiness and unique physical qualities. The exhibition comprises a new series of bronze pumpkin sculptures as well as a new body of paintings, sculptures and works on paper.
