Celebrate the Year of the Horse in CFCCA's Gallery 2!

About

Workshops and drop-in activities will be happening throughout the project, with a celebration event on Sunday 2nd February! Local illustrator and pattern designer Lydia Meiying has been selected as our artist-in-residence for Chinese New Year 2014, the year of the horse. Lydia will be working with a host of local school and community groups, as well as our public visitors, to take over our window space with a fabulous horse themed installation! Taking inspiration from traditional Chinese lanterns where patterns come to life through light and shadow, Lydia will be using light box and projection techniques to create horses which will literally leap into life! CFCCA and Lydia invite you, the audience, to co-create this beautiful installation with us. Workshops will be open to all in the two weeks leading up to Chinese New Year on Friday 31st January. These drop-in sessions will be free to participate in so pop in to CFCCA any time during our regular opening hours. CFCCA is very excited to be working with Stockport Library as part of their Chinese New Year celebrations, extending our horse themed project into Stockport town centre. Horses produced in Stockport will be trotting their way back to CFCCA for a showcase and celebration on 2nd February. If you are in the area keep an eye out for Lydia's drop-in sessions in January!
