A Sneaker Retrospective Exhibition
We Are Parable are proud to present “Is It The Shoes?”, a three day sneaker retrospective festival that will celebrate how sneakers have influenced mainstream popular culture over the last thirty years. This groundbreaking event will take place on the 11th-13th October 2013 at The Rag Factory off Brick Lane.
From music and art, to film and fashion, “Is It The Shoes?” will explore the last three decades and how the sneaker has now become a cultural phenomenon. From kids wanting to “be like Mike” to high end fashion designers collaborating with sportswear companies, this festival will give an insight into what makes sneakers loved the world over.
“Is It The Shoes?” will have interactive art workshops to show visitors the creative process of developing sneakers, Live DJs, film screenings and a panel discussion which will pose a number of questions around how the sneaker game has changed since the 80’s and understanding where it’s going in the future. With contributions from leading sneaker figures, this is a debate that you don’t want to miss!
An arts exhibition that looks at the key moments in sneaker history over the last thirty years will also take place documenting how sneakers have made themselves a mainstay in our generation through various cultural references.
A festival programme will be available to download from our website from mid September. For updates please follow @isittheshoes13 on Twitter #isittheshoes13
