About
Milton Keynes based artist Lance Fennel will be exhibiting in the Granary Art Gallery throughout September. Primarily focusing on familiar areas, Lance paints scenes such as highways, landscapes, office interiors and petrol stations. Like many people who view the landscape through a windscreen while travelling, Lance has taken the opportunity to capture the richness and beauty of roadways juxtaposed with the landscape.Using oil paint as his main medium, Lance paints highly detailed and accurate images which have a superb realist quality. Another unique factor about Lance's work, is the way in which he incorporates the frame moldings as part of the image, with the intention of representing areas which may not have normally be included.
By doing this, the artist feels he can prevent images from becoming a cliche by adding mood to the images, such as sunsets or rainbows, outside the canvas area.
Since graduating from Bath Academy of Art, Lance has continued to produce artwork on a communication basis. In addition to his day job at Network Rail, he has also been involved with a number of exhibitions - recently being selected twice for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
This will be the first time that Lance has exhibited in the West Midlands and we look forward to welcoming Lance to the region.
