Secret City Garden

About

Secret City Garden is a one day arts and community event celebrating Fairchild's Garden. Fairchild's Garden is one of Hackney's hidden gems, tucked away next to Ye Old Ax pub. The garden is named after Thomas Fairchild, a Hoxton-based 18th century gardener, who had a passion for creating plants that would thrive in London. Secret City Garden invites local residents, communities and creatives to participate in Fairchild's vision for creating beautiful engaging habitats in urban spaces. Join us at Secret City Garden to enjoy: CABINet: an arts project space converted from a shipping container. CABINet will open its doors and showcase visual and audio works exploring our relationship with the city, created by Architrope and clients of the New Hanbury Project - a local charity supporting people with addiction issues. Gardening and Planting Workshops: the chance to plant and grow perennial vegetables and fruit. Adopt Your Own Planter For Free: Grow your own in the park and enjoy the fruits (and veg) of your harvest Talkaoke: A mobile chat-show, inviting you to share your thoughts and creative ideas on what you would like to see happening in Fairchild's Garden in the future Alive in the City: a live set from the talented New Hanbury Project band. Boules and table tennis: For the energetic. For the not so, simply kick back and sip a coffee or something stronger in Roof Top - a fabulous terrace café converted from a horse box. Entry to this event is absolutely free.
