4 Windmill Street presents A + B, a two-person exhibition of recent work by Frank Ammerlaan and Nathan Barlex. Rather than becoming a defining lexicon or induction of artists; The Alphabet Series aims to keep definition to a minimum; instead affording each artist the opportunity to present new objectives within their current work.

Frank Ammerlaan (b. 1979, The Netherlands) lives and works in London. Studied at the Royal College of Art, London and was awarded The Land Securities Studio Award (2012) and The Royal Award for Painting in The Netherlands (2012). Ammerlaan has been invited for a residency at Museum of Contemporary Art, Calasetta, Sardinia, Italy (2013). He has exhibited internationally, including solo exhibitions at The Armory Show, NY (7 – 10 March 2013), Upstream Gallery, Amsterdam (2012) and PS Project Space, Amsterdam (2011). Recent group exhibitions include Painting without Painting, David Risley Gallery, Copenhagen (2012) and Stereopsis, Tannery Arts, Drawing Room, London (2012). He is also co-founder of the exhibition space De Service Garage in Amsterdam.

Nathan Barlex (b. 1976, Milton Keynes, UK) lives and works in London. Studied at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art, London. Barlex has exhibited widely in the UK and Europe. Shows include; New Contemporaries (2010) at both A Foundation, Liverpool and ICA, London; "De Kooning, De Kooning, De Kooning...", David Risely Gallery, Copenhagen (2011); Diving for Pearls, Munich, Lothringer 13, Städtische Kunsthalle (2011); The Tyrrany of Grammar, Fishmarket, Northampton (2011) and Virtual Ouroboros, PyramidBiz, London (2011). His work forms part of the permanent collection at Bank of America and the Royal College of Art (as selected through Outset Fund).
