In her vibrant abstract paintings, Lesley explores the materiality and spirituality of life with a perpetual interest in order and disorder, heat, light, energy and flux. She draws inspiration from scientific theories such as chaos theory and superstring theory as well as from her study visits to India, Laos and Cambodia where she emotionally responds to the atmospheric visual poetry of the rhythm, tone and sensuousness of a place and culture.

Never wanting to paint what she sees but rather imagining something new from her thoughts, feelings or experiences she seeks to make work that is contemplative, invites curiosity and gives sensual pleasure
