About

In conjunction with the exhibition Shifting Gazes at Guest Projects, this screening event will present a selection of film and video works by French artist Camille Henrot (b. 1978, Paris) that are set in India, Egypt, Hawai and Papua New Guinea. Henrot positions the question of the ‘other' and the definition of ‘elsewhere' at the centre of her artistic investigation. Through extensive traveling and in-depth research she explores the relationship between tourists and locals in a variety of different geographical and social contexts. By revisiting the ethnographic genre, her powerful imagery points to the inherently fraught nature of cultural encounters and unveils the entanglement between tourism, eroticism, and economic power. The event is organised in partnership with the The Hub King's Cross The Hub King's Cross 34b York Way N1 9AB London
