Knitting workshop with Alison Ellen
Participants will create shapes for a Christmas decoration, hat, bag or cushion. All levels are welcome. Alison's approach to teaching design is to take a fresh look at knitting as a constructive textile technique where it is possible to build shapes without seams. We explore how stitches can alter the fabric, using the way stitches are combined to create shaping rather than the dressmaking approach of altering the edges of separate pieces by increasing and decreasing. The aim is to gain confidence to experiment.
