An exhibition by Jackie Knee of drawings in different media inspired by wooden scaffolding in India

About

Jackie Knee's art practice focusses on how we perceive spaces in and around buildings. In this exhibition, the house is a common motif, represented as an open structure, set on precariously long legs. The structures blur the boundaries between building and scaffolding. Jackie makes drawings from models that she makes, investigating the series of interlocking lines, crossing and re-crossing in space. The linear, interweaving shapes that result are reminiscent of the scaffold poles used in India. Photographs snatched from the back of a moving motorbike in India also serve as source material.
