A pop-up home for performance.

About

Hiru Dance Organisation presents Theà‚ Public House - a pop-up home for performance - for one whole week as part of the South Londonà‚ Big Dance programme, led by Siobhan Davies Dance.

Withà‚ the help of design trio Wignall & Moore and visual artist Anna Sikorska, Hiruà‚ will transform an empty unit in Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre into a living room to host eight new commissions and two existing dances - each a direct response to the context of The Public House.

An empty shop becomes a home.

A sofa becomes a stage.

Public space becomes private.

Private actions become public.

Featuring installations, performances, workshops, sit-ins, lie-ins, discussions, domestics, improvisations and choreographic experiments.

The line-up of artists at The Public House includes graduates from Laban, London Contemporary Dance School, Northern School of Contemporary Dance and Roehampton University, whose work has been seen at Barbican Centre, Chelsea Theatre, Chisenhale Dance Space, Hannah Barry Gallery, Southbank Centre, Siobhan Davies Studios and The Place.

Alexandrina Hemsley - Antonio de la Fe Guedes - The Arch of Starch - Eleanor Sikorski - Gillie Kleiman - immigrants and animals - Moreno Solinas - Riccardo Buscarini - Sebastian Kurth - Trumpet Creepers with Seke Chimutengwende

Design team Wignall & Moore and Anna Sikorska graduated from Nottingham University, Royal College of Art and Slade School of Fine Art.
