About

Photo Synthesis is a collaborative photography exhibition initiated by the final year students of the new and acclaimed BA Photography course at Coventry University. The exhibition will showcase not only the work of the graduating photographers, but also feature that of some established practitioners who have inspired and encouraged them, including David Gray, Edward Dimsdale and more to be confirmed.

The title refers to the group's unified presentation, because although their work covers a variety of styles and genres, they are brought together through their commitment and enthusiasm to their practice. The students' approach is a reflection of a course which celebrates passion and originality over conformity, encourages self-defined projects, and is open-minded and always evolving to industry demands.

The Photography course at Coventry University combines practical and critical study of photography with a strong emphasis on new technologies and enterprise. The students have spearheaded original sustainable practice projects such as #Phonar (Photography and Narrative) and #Picbod (Picturing the Body) under the innovative teaching of photographer Jonathan Worth.

Exposure to leading photographic practitioners throughout their course, including Simon Roberts, Elinor Carucci, Tom Hunter, Wayne Ford, Mark Power and Chrystel Lebas has helped to produce exciting and unique students, on the cutting edge of the commercial, editorial and fine arts sectors of the industry.
2011 BA Photography students have won internships and exhibited in some of the most prestigious international photography competitions.
