About
Lewisham Arthouse is delighted to present new large-scale abstract paintings by Victoria Scott. Joyful and luminous, yet describing loss and entropy, her work is a struggle between the visceral, fluid nature of the oil paint, and structured, decorative elements. This work is abstract, hinting both at organic forms and the domestic world of flowers in vases or on greetings cards. It uses accidents that are created by the physical reactions of paint and the effects of splashing, blowing and dripping, contrasted with more deliberate ways of applying paint. This physicality and the person-sized canvases invoke the body, and its life within domestic and cultural restraints. For further information, press images and to contact the artist go to:
