The formation of this show
is fuelled by curiosity and speculation; to bring six specific artists together to see
and feel how each work reacts, challenges and elevates the next. An addiction to the
unfixed and unstable is made explicit in all works and viewed collectively, the works
reveal a spectrum in which a routine formalism increasingly succumbs to it's own
subjective abandonment.
The works included here aim to overstep their abiding systematicity in ways that
are ' to varying degrees ' unpredictable. This exhibition investigates the notion of
event, asking what kind of event is produced when an artwork attempts to exceed the
limitations implied by its specific materiality.
