NAOMI MCINTOSH JEWELLERY Canary Wharf Window Galleries
About
LONDON CREATIVE NAOMI MCINTOSH JEWELLERY has been selected to exhibit in the Canary Wharf window galleries from 1st to the 27th of May. The window, located in Canada Place on Jubilee Walk, will show the latest collection from the West London based designer. The galleries which link the shopping complex at Canary Wharf to the underground and offices, are visited by thousands of people every day and they showcase the best handmade and original work by cutting edge and emerging designers.
The designer graduated from the world renowned Central Saint Martins School of Art and design in 2010 and has already shown her work in both the London fashion and design weeks. Her background in architecture has contributed to the unique nature of her work. This collection is called 'Wearable Drawings' and the pieces are made by hand in London from beautiful walnut wood, polished clear acrylic and gold vermeil. These materials allow the intricate nature of the work to be visible.
Inspiration for the pieces comes from a fascination with rock formations as well as the contours of the human body. Construction, architectural methodologies and drawing conventions have also contributed to this unusual way of working. Designer Naomi Mcintosh says, 'I think of the body as a landscape and use cross sections to suggest spaces on the surface of the skin. When worn these fluid works act in synchronicity with the body.'
