John Cage Every Day is a good Day
This extraordinary exhibition comprises a selection of lesser known prints and drawings by John Cage.
Inspired by Cage�s use of chance-determined scores and using a procedure that he employed, an I Ching-like computer programme will be used to determine the layout of the exhibition with the programme determining the position of each work through chance operations. This will result in works being displayed at many different heights, and in groups that a curator might not ordinarily choose; such chance encounters between quite different works will give a sense of them being part of an ongoing creative process, rather than merely being the result of one creative moment. Much as Cage removed his intention from his own works, it is hoped that the intention of the curator can be similarly removed from this exhibition.
There are over one hundred works in the show including drawings, watercolours and prints.
