For this group show we propose to work along the theme of marriage by seeing it as not only the connection between people but the merging of both living and inanimate objects. The ability to combine, and in turn, to tear apart leads us to think about how things are connected, joined, and how people perceive these connections. Removing the romanticism from marriage, and seeing it from this simple and formal viewpoint of joining, allows us to think critically about how people, and objects are bonded and broken.
The work will be a mixture of installation works, videos, projects, sound pieces and drawing.
We are a loose collective of seven artists, who work collaboratively, but with strong influences from our individual practices. We put on group shows around themes that we feel help to bond our work together, and create food for thought for viewers. Our work tends to look at common-place ideas and aims to challenge the meaning of words and common notions in the day-to-day.
