James Morris: A Landscape of Wales

About

Ffotogallery would like to invite you to our next exhibition A Landscape of Wales, by the award-winning Welsh artist James Morris. To kick off the new year, we will be presenting this major new exhibition across 2 venues; Futures Gallery at The Pierhead in Cardiff Bay and at Turner House in Penarth. Please join us to celebrate both openings on Wednesday 12th January 2011 - we will be providing a shuttle bus between the venues and there will be drinks available at both! The exhibition continues until Sat 26 Feb. A Landscape of Wales is a significant body of photographic work, which takes a broad look at the contemporary Welsh landscape. James Morris challenges tourist clichés by looking at the impact of human presence and the layers of history in the landscape. Wales is a land of beauty and of hardship where — in this post-industrial, post-rural economy — Tesco and tourism are now the major employers. Within this context, Morris reflects upon issues of identity, exploitation and regeneration. This partnership project is an Aberystwyth Arts Centre Touring Exhibition. For more information about the exhibition, please see our website: http://www.ffotogallery.org/exhibition.php?ex_id=352&p= For details about how to find The Pierhead please see their website: http://www.pierhead.org/en/contact.php
