Jason Hicklin was born in Wolverhampton. He studied at Central St. Martin’s College of Art where he was a student of the renowned printmaker, Norman Ackroyd. He was elected as a Member of the Royal Society of Painters-Printmakers and completed fellowships at The Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle, Co Mayo, Eire in 1995 and 1996. Hicklin has had numerous solo and group exhibitions since graduating. He exhibited in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999 and 2000. He also exhibited at the London Contemporary Art Fair in 1999 and 2000, The National Print Exhibition, Leeds City Art Gallery and the Chelsea Art Fair. He won the Hunting Art Prize at the Royal College of Art in London and the Hunterian Museum in Glasgow in 1996 and 1997. He also received the Julian Trevelyan RE Memorial Prize at the National Printmaking Exhibition in 1997. Hicklin produces series of etchings and large graphite drawings based on walks around the coast and lakes of the British Isles and Ireland.
