The piece is intended to establish a physical and psychological tension between the participants and viewers, and addresses ideas of displacement, identity, boundaries and the role of the individual in a critical mass. there is a pulsating two hour performance that will take place during the opening of 7876m3, the University of Westminster Mixed Media Fine Art Degree show. During the performance a large group of participants will gather in an allocated section of the exhibition space, standing still in a square for 10 minutes, then dissolving into the mass of visitors. After 10 minutes the participants reassemble and the procedure is repeated over the duration of the show. As a participant you are required to attend a rehearsal at the venue during May (the date to be advised). Participants are asked to bring some of their own old clothing to the rehearsal (jeans, t-shirts in plain colours would be ideal) that will be bleached/distressed and worn for the event. Every participant will be given two postcards with their name on the list of performers/participants of this piece at P3 Ambika venue (current show — Jannis Kounelis). A weblog with a documentation of this event will be created during the production process, as an addition to your CVs along with the postcards.
