G39 presents new works by prolific British artist Jackie Chettur, the third artist in our solo season which showcases the work of emerging artists throughout the region. Jackie often works on a site specific response to the site in which she exhibits, her show at g39 however is subtly different; The artist is creating a series of photographs at the Marriot Hotel, her focus will be on re-constructing rooms as filmic sets and theatrical props. Combining recent personal experiences of cleaning hotel bedrooms with a desire to elevate the everyday to something more extraordinary, these photographs take inspiration from both the frustrations and banality of everyday life and the daydreams that inevitably result from this stasis.
