Sofiia Yesakova in her work uses the language of minimalism, but she also focuses on expressing thoughts and emotion which is, what minimalism has tried to deny and possibly suppress. She perceives the strict architecture of geometric shapes, structure and the rejection of unnecessary elements coming from the desire to control and systematize uncontrollable life processes. Her latest work Cargo 200 is based on a term in military jargon. A military designation for transporting home the dead bodies from war. Sofiia used a method of objectifying her subjective experience of war, such as the deaths of fellow citizens and soldiers, by intuitively recreating it through an experimental projection on the surface.
