Roman Týc (1974) tries to find the boundaries of public space, and explores the limits of the system where opportunity arises to present his ideas, which very often comes into conflict with the law. Týc comments through his work on society and the world around him, criticizes it, provokes and evokes strong feedback and debate. He is one of the few Czech artists who resonate in the international field of visual arts and represent Czech contemporary art. His awareness and recognition came primarily through the actions of the diverse group Ztohoven, which he co-founded. The international dimension of Týc’s work speaks through an abundance of reviews within the most prestigious art events in the world press and media, for example within the last few years Týc has had several major reviews in The New York Times. Týc was also included as part of international activist art in the prestigious German published Gestalten publication, Art & Agenda - Political Art and Activism.
