Omid Asadi’s leaf art is rooted in his childhood when there was a deep emotional relation between him and nature, as a child he used to needle to create shapes on behind of leaves or on fallen rose petals. He didn’t take this practice further until much later; in 2012 he decided to use leaves as the basic material. He uses cut out and carving techniques to create forms and shapes to transform an ordinary leaf into a delicate piece of art through a very much time consuming process. In general, it’s the artist’s way to depict the difference between the ways we see our surroundings, to show we do not tend to notice the ordinary things unless they are brought to our attention.
