My ceramics marry form and surface decoration, exploring line, colour and texture. Many influences combine in my work, including old maiolica, ‘fifties textiles and Chinese calligraphy. I limit myself to a few colours, which have enough possibilities to generate an infinite number of motifs. I make tableware and some large decorative pieces using the tin glaze technique. The patterns are painted onto the absorbent surface of the unfired glaze, which calls for decisive brushwork. I trained at Harrow (BA University of Westminster). My studio is in St Albans, Hertfordshire. I am a Member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen.
