Lu Pingyuan (b.1984, Zhejiang Province, China) is a Shanghai based artist. Lu Pingyuan writes stories as a way to express his artistic point of views. These stories - often enigmatic, wondrous, eventually frightening - are all developed from art-related topics. Aside from creating stories, he also presents in a very unique way odd experiences he went through in his life. For example how his cat Schrodinger came to be born and how an old homeless man taught him a whole new way to make art, giving him a special power. Lu Pingyuan’s artistic exploration provides a whole new perspective on the current art field. Since 2012, he has created over a hundred stories. The relationship between the “stories” and “reality” presented in his works provides an interesting latitude. His exhibitions include: Unexpected Discovery-Lu Pingyuan solo exhibition, (MadeIn Gallery, Shanghai, China, 2015), The scale of youth, Art-Sanya 2015, (Sanya, China, 2015), Inventing Ritual, (Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, Moscow, Russia; Ural Industrial Biennial Of Contemporary Art, Ekaterinburg, Russia; Kunsthaus Graz, Graz, Austria; Pimo Contemporary Art Festival, Shanghai, China; Art-Sanya, China, 2015), Super archives, (Cc foundation, Shanghai, China, 2015), Ural Industrial Biennial Of Contemporary Art (Ekaterinburg, Russia, 2015), A4 Young Artist Experimental Season (A4 Contemporary Arts Center, Chengdu, China, 2014), Nihilistic Belief (Antenna Space, Shanghai, China, 2014), Too Smart To Be Good, the 7th A+A (Pifo Gallery, Beijing, China, 2014), Archipelago (V Art Center, Shanghai, China, 2013), Waiting for an Artist (Goethe Open Space, Goethe Institute, Shanghai, China, 2013), Not Included (Hemuse Gallery, Beijing, China, 2012), Reflections of Minds (MoCA, Shanghai, Shanghai, 2010).
