My work examines the subjectivities of representation and perception, in particular, the structural impact of technologies on the sense of self, decision making and our relationship with the physical world. I explore these ideas through large interactive works, combining layered video, audio, computer vision, artificial intelligence and traditional materials. I aim to engage people with a sensorially rich and provocative experience: virtual objects can intrude into the ‘actual’ world, or seemingly mundane materials are activated with a kind of primitive consciousness. By causing an oscillation between the virtual and the actual, I explore the role of the viewer-participant, and what it means to be in the world.
