Kelly Grace (b. 1976, Toronto) is a mid-career artist and a Sheridan College graduate from Interpretive Illustration. Known for her paintings depicting vintage inspired scenes, Kelly’s works are populated with glamorous film noir heroines and other characters that seem to belong to a bygone era. Using her signature style developed through her unique combination of acrylic paint and mediums, she often poses herself and friends as subjects. Kelly carefully stages and photographs her reference imagery with the help of her own vintage hair styling skills and a personal collection of antique props. Through her practice Kelly’s objective is that of visual storytelling, coupled with a desire to celebrate retro pop culture, nostalgia and personal memory. The results are film narrative works that depict only a piece of a larger story, one that invites the viewer to write for themselves. Her works are collected locally and internationally. She currently works out of Toronto, Canada.
