Collective + Organisation (keikenº mind u) creating experimental projects merging IRL + URL with art, VR, music + technology. R_Cells_of_Soul_Honey? Keiken is the Japanese word for experience, something that is integral to their collaborative practice and philosophy. They are both a collective and organisation made up of artists and musicians based in London, Berlin and Falmouth. Through interactivity and immersivity they dissolve the boundaries between audience and environment through live RPG, merging new technologies, music and contemporary art. They nurture an inclusive environment, researching and creating collectively to primarily create large-scale installations and events. They also work in curation, art direction, design, VR, book-works and happenings. Their research develops and expands with the collaborators, together challenging the dynamic of reality and questioning how societal introjection governs the way we think and perceive. In expanding ‘networks of networks’ they explore how technology is affecting our individual and collective consciousness. Keiken activate networked spaces as a site in which the consciousness’ of archetypal stereotypes/figures are used as facets to unravel the futures and ramifications of our accelerating technological age. We care about the state of anima and techno-anima, cognition, time and body. How can we learn to activate more progressive directions, both in our process and bodies of work? Keiken recently presented a new work, Silicone_Animism | The Birth of Mother Digital, Trimester 1, 2 and 3 at Clinic//2, as part of the London Design Festival, at Disturbed, Hacked, Reassembled, Lewisham Arthouse and at Hervisions, Second Home. Keiken also presented performance, BCNU*, at Tate St Ives last June and their VR, @MotherDigital, was selected for Plymouth Contemporaries 2017 at Peninsula Arts. They have curated and exhibited at Newlyn Art Gallery; Palace of Culture and Drawing a Presence, 2017, 2016. keiken° mind u was set up by the artist collective Keiken as an innovative and experimental platform traversing the interstices of art, music and technology promoting collaborative exchanges and discourse, placing the audience at the core of immersive experiences. The idea began after hosting a series of podcasts on Know Wave radio titled ‘mind u’. www.keiken-mind-u.com
