My inspiration comes predominantly from my environment. After growing up in the South West of England and moving to London over 20 years ago, I realised I just love architecture and the hustle and bustle of city life. Le Corbusier and Erno Goldfinger are among my favourite architects, plus earlier London Art Deco architecture. Obviously Battersea Power Station is a big love of mine. I’m always drawn to the slightly awkward and weird forms of the London skyline, but it's not necessarily the building that inspires me - it's the space it fills in the landscape. I always find the negative space that's created by a structure as exciting, if not more so, than the building itself, hence the large expanses of sky in my screen prints or the exposed wood in my more recent paintings. It's so exciting to find art hiding in everyday stuff! If you have any questions about my work, please feel free to contact me.
