I have been involved in the international contemporary art world since the mid-1990’s. I formed Gibson Contemporary in 2011 as an umbrella organization for my various art projects: exhibition and event production, artist management and freelance agenting, pr/media, and writing. I am based in and native to New York City.
I was the Managing Director of The John Gibson Gallery (1997-2001), a preparator at El Museo del Barrio, on the executive board of The Artists Alliance Inc and Nurture Art Inc, providing early leadership and organizing landmark exhibitions. I have organized 140 exhibitions including Intimacy, Culture Vulture, Everland, Beautiful Dreamer, By Invitation Only, and Painting with Pictures; as well as the artist show-and-tell series REAL ART TODAY at The Makor Steinhardt Center of the 92nd Street Y (2005-2006) and the Williamsburg storefront art space REALFORM PROJECT SPACE (2003-2008); I was involved with The Gramercy, Scope, Photo NY, and Pool art fairs. I taught at The School of Visual Arts (2005-2009) and lectured at several important colleges and universities. I have contributed writings to Artillery, Art Notes, C magazine, Flash Art, Frieze, Performing Arts Journal, and Zingmagazine.
Prior to establishing my website I was an active art writer and curator of exhibitions for two decades. The writing came first, in 1996, and the curating followed, in 2000. I started out writing for various art magazines both local and international, while contributing minimally to my exhibition themes, preferring to put the art before myself. The writing followed sporadically. In 2011, I started writing more as a consultant, providing critical texts as a service to artists.
