A graduate of the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, France Trudel's work can be found in several public and private collections in Canada, the United States and France (Musée des beaux-arts du Québec, Loto-Québec, Claridge Investment, Collection Alliance Mutuelle, etc.). Everyday objects, non-gendered faces or sometimes half-human and uncertain silhouettes share the space of her paintings. Scenes with a raw aesthetic, marrying the figurative and the abstract, are revealed, putting forward characters whose role is only defined by the beholder. Deconstructed and colourful narratives, atmospheres both playful and unusual, even spiritual, populate her universe. When she paints, the artist discovers. She materializes her inspiration; the idea only appears as she creates her works, as if she was following a compass. There are two entrances: the inside and the outside, a sort of match between the intimate and the use of different materials (paint, collage, pencils, adhesive tape, etc.). For France Trudel, the artistic experience constitutes an ultimate space of freedom.
