Estella Castle is a London-based artist multi-disciplinary artist whose practice examines the representation of history. Recently she won the National Trust’s Runnymede: People’s Landscape commission to both commemorate the signing of the Magna Carta and to present audiences with a new understanding of the hidden significance of the land at Runnymede. Another large scale work supported by the National Trust, commemorated the 200th anniversary of painter John Constable’s time in Suffolk with the work Ask the Fellows Who Cut the Hay. The artist alongside collaborator Cat Auburn recreated Constable’s iconic painting using actors and animals and brought The Haywain back to life in Flatford, Suffolk. Estella graduated with a Master of Arts from City & Guilds of London Art School in 2013 and has exhibited widely around both the UK and New Zealand.
