Born in 1974, Delphine Burtin lives and works in Lausanne (Switzerland). After studying graphic design, she worked as a designer for several years, both for advertising agencies and freelance. In 2011, she did advanced training in photography at the Vevey School of Applied Arts (CEPV- Centre d’Enseignement Professional de Vevey). The following year, the Disparition series was presented at Photoforum PasquArt (Bienne) and Les Boutographies in Montpellier, to mention just a few. Then, in 2013, Encouble, her graduation series, met with immediate and wide success: it was shortlisted for PhotoBook of the Year Paris Photo, Fondation Aperture 2013, in the First PhotoBook category, won 1st Prize during the Selection exhibition at Photoforum PasquArt, and is the recipient of the Prix HSBC 2014; the series has already been shown in Berlin, Paris, Lille, Metz, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Montpellier, Anvers and New York Her work questions the notions of illusion and disappearance through still lifes or visual rebuses playing with the ambiguity of perception.
