About the artwork
This work presents two mirrored female figures engaged in intimate exchange — whispering or perhaps gossiping — positioned symmetrically around a bouquet of drooping flowers. These women are not only storytellers but also vessels themselves, conjuring a shared narrative space that holds and preserves fragile memory. The flowers, symbolic of memory or emotion, appear suspended by their dialogue, their vitality dependent on the act of telling. In this context, “telling tales” becomes both a generative and protective act — gossip not as trivial chatter but as a form of cultural and emotional preservation. The women’s mirrored faces suggest self-reflection and duality, while the flowers between them allude to the delicate, impermanent nature of memory and its reliance on being voiced. The piece reflects on how shared stories, even those dismissed as frivolous, create vessels of meaning — emotional containers that defy decay through mutual recognition and exchange.
