Anna is a Swedish artist specialising in mixed media drawings and paintings on paper. Her work investigates notions of displacement in relation to ideas related to ‘being’, belonging and remembering. She utilises a range of techniques, such as drawing, painting and printmaking in her practice. Anna’s work explores how the notion of melancholy relates to loss, longing and the passing of time. Her work is a visual portrayal of the complicated relationship between the present and fragmented nature of the past. Many of the images and figures she constructs also have a strong visual connection with her childhood and Nordic culture. The ‘real’ sites depicted within much of her work are coupled with fictional elements. By merging imagery from different contexts Anna is attempting to visually express her own feelings of displacement within the image.
