Whitestone Gallery was founded in 1967. It was one of a small number of pioneering galleries in Japan and the gallery focused mostly on European post-impressionist paintings up until 1980's. The focus shifted gradually to Japanese-style paintings (Nihonga) in late 80's and Contemporary Art from year 2000.

Currently the gallery holds exhibitions in Ginza, at various department stores throughout the nation, and at international art fairs with works ranging from Impressionist Masterpieces to Contemporary Japanese Art. The gallery continues to provide works of old masters and promote aspiring contemporary Japanese artists at home and abroad.
