The Vanhaerents Art Collection is a family collection of contemporary art containing works from the 1970s until today. It thus offers the possibility to confront works from emerging young artists with those of more established artists by whom they were inspired.

The work of Andy Warhol is the starting point of the collection. Being one of the most important artists of the second half of the twentieth century, he has had a strong influence on many artists of the following generations. Warhol’s undeniable influence is thus present throughout the whole collection: e.g. in the works of Cindy Sherman, Barbara Kruger, Jenny Holzer or Allan McCollum. The array of works of Pop art comprises not only its Western incarnation, but also its Japanese counterpart inspired by manga culture, with pieces from Yoshitomo Nara, Takashi Murakami and Chiho Aoshima.

The work Bruce Nauman created in the 1980s forms another important part of the collection, next to the works of John Baldessari, Jeff Koons, Christian Boltanski, Franz West or Paul McCarthy. Younger generations of artists include for example Matthew Barney, Ugo Rondinone, Tom Sachs, Thomas Demand and Matthew Day Jackson. The Vanhaerents Art Collection is continuously growing by focalizing on the contemporary art scene.
