Established in 2001, The Vinyl Factory Group encompasses a record label, vinyl pressing plant, the record shop Phonica and music magazine FACT, in addition to all of its visual arts activities. These include new arts commissions, exhibitions and collaborations between musicians and contemporary artists.

The Vinyl Factory space at Brewer Street car park is set to become a dynamic cultural hub featuring arts commissions and collaborations. Previous exhibitions at the space include Richard Mosse’s The Enclave, the artist’s debut London solo exhibition. The space at Brewer Street car park forms part of the company’s London-wide network of venues, along with 180 The Strand, which has already hosted several exhibitions and events including The Moving Museum, Magnetic Field by These New Puritans and a unique collaboration between Jack White and Punchdrunk.

The Vinyl Factory works in partnerships with leading art organisations. Key projects include Jeremy Deller, English Magic for The British Council’s British Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale of Art, Clockwork Jerusalem at the 55th Venice Biennale of Architecture. The Fun Palace, a new mobile project from the Vinyl Factory, launched at the Serpentine Summer Party 2014. The interactive box is a touring laboratory of sound which provides an audio-visual show for 20 dancers at a time and is set to tour worldwide over the next year.

The Vinyl Factory also works with artists via the record label, innovatively using vinyl records as media for commissioning new works of art and music. The label releases limited editions made in collaboration with both artists and musicians, accompanied by events and performances. Releases to date include:
Christian Marclay, Eddie Peake, Haroon Mirza, Dinos Chapman, Florence + the Machine, Maurizio Catalan, Pet Shop Boys, Martin Creed, Massive Attack, Bryan Ferry, The XX and Duran Duran.
