Travel Information

Tube / Metro: From Canary Wharf tube station Turn right out of the station on to Reuters Plaza. Go past the clocks and turn right at the top of the stairs. You’ll see bus stop J. Buses go in two directions from this stop so you’ll need to check the destination as well as the number. To get to the Space you’ll need the 277 or 135 to Crossharbour (not Highbury or Old Street) or the D7 to Poplar (not Mile End). Our bus stop is called Crews St/The Space Theatre. Buses are frequent but we recommend allowing 20 minutes for wait and journey time combined.
Bus: You can get the D7 from Mile End or Poplar, the 277 from Bethnal Green from Mile End and the 135 from Old Street. Our bus stop is called Crews Street/The Space Theatre.
Train: From Mudchute DLR station If arriving from Bank direction, turn right when getting off the train and walk up the stairs. Follow the brick wall round and turn right down the stairs. Bear right down Spindrift Avenue and keep walking to the end of this road. Turn right on to Westferry Road and the Space is a few minutes up the road opposite Rose Food and Wine store. It will take you approximately 10 – 15 minutes to walk from Mudchute station.

The Space is a performing arts and community centre based in a converted church on the Isle of Dogs, East London.  In May 2015 we activated a new performance space in the Crossrail Place Roof Garden in collaboration with the Canary Wharf group. This exciting venue will run from May-August alongside our usual year-round activities at our original site on Westferry Road.

Run by St Paul’s Arts Trust, we’re committed to providing a broad range of events and opportunities for new performers of all kinds.  We believe in giving people space:

THE SPACE TO ENJOY

We programme a year-round, exciting mixture of theatre, music, comedy and dance events.  Our performances are usually scheduled on Tuesday – Sunday evenings with workshops for all age groups on Monday nights. With our home-grown theatre productions and approximately 200 events per year, there’s always something to look forward to.

THE SPACE TO EXPLORE

SpaceWorks, our in-house theatre company, provides regular weekly workshops in performance for 7-11 year olds and adults.  We also provide training in a wide range of technical theatre and arts administration skills.  Working with experienced professionals and absolute beginners, whether you’re more comfortable on stage or off, there are opportunities for everyone to get involved.

THE SPACE TO BE

The Space is a warm, friendly, welcoming place.  Whether you’re coming to an event or a workshop or simply to enjoy Hubbub, our café/bar, we’re always pleased to see you.
