Taking its name from a building in the Bethan Green district of London, The RYDER Projects was founded in January 2015 by Pati Lara in a converted garage on Herald Street. In 2019, The RYDER transitioned its curatorial programme to Madrid, taking over a renovated horse stable in Lavapiés, and welcoming Rafa Barber Cortell as curator.

Retaining its interest in interdisciplinary practices where performance and technique act as the driving forces for critical artistic research, the gallery presents a dynamic programme addressing contemporary social and political issues. As of October 2024, Carmen Lael Hines and Roberto Majano have taken on the position of curators at the gallery. The curatorial duo continues to develop a programme centered on contemporaneity and criticality.

As of September 2025, the gallery will take on a permanent location in a former ham factory in the center of Madrid. The RYDER Projects is committed to representing local and international practices to engage pressing issues of our time.
