The Anatomy Rooms
Aberdeen, United Kingdom
The Anatomy Rooms is a unique creative hub offering a range of working spaces, events and projects in support of individual practitioners, groups and arts organisations.
The centre comprises of five shared studio rooms, four private studios, an open project room, a study and community room, events space, tooled makers workshop, kitchen and dining area, wi-fi throughout and 24/7 access for residents. Studio and working spaces are let on a month-to-month basis, with one year being the expected tenure duration. It currently houses 16 individual practitioners, a research group, a music and media youth development organisation and a start-up fashion and textiles design workshop.
Situated at the rear of Marischal College, in the former anatomy department of the University of Aberdeen, the centre opened to residents in early 2016. The facility is managed by artist-led Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) ‘All In Ideas’. The organisation was formed in 2015 to develop and manage projects in support of arts practitioners in the city. Research and start-up funding support for the Anatomy Rooms was provided by Aberdeen City Council and Creative Scotland’s Place Partnership pilot Creative Spaces Awards scheme. The Anatomy Rooms is just one of All In Ideas’ development portfolio of innovative projects in the city.
