Tangent Projects is a curatorial initiative set up to work with artists on site-responsive exhibitions and projects.

With a desire to add multiplicity to the current art archetype, Tangent Projects endeavours to showcase exemplary works in a variety of different media and platforms - including books, exhibitions, performances and on-line commissions.

In offering the opportunity for digressions to be pursued, ideas and processes that might normally have been discarded in favour of the main discourse will have the potential to reach a conclusion. Without a commercial bias and with experimentation encouraged, Tangent Projects invites artists to explore the diversions and deviations within their artistic practice.

In simple terms, to give artists the leeway to "go off on a tangent".

Tangent Projects was initially founded by Tsering Frykman-Glen and Laura Tammen in November 2015. In early 2019, Tangent Projects became a cultural association under Tsering’s guidance.

Tangent Projects is now a small independent artspace with the remit of not only offering an exhibition space for artists to experiment with their practice but also a space to act as a counterpoint to the current gallery model by actively seeking to redress and challenge inequality within the arts by exhibiting work by artists that are all too often marginalised.

Within this new artspace there are 7 affordable artist studios and a small art gallery/project space. The gallery opened in June 2019.

The current resident studio artists are - Camila Argomedo, Evin Collis, Matt Collis, Shiva Gupta, Elin Lindecrantz, Lizette Nin, Nuria Pujalte Ojeda and Lucia Retamar. You can read more about the studios and residency availability here.

Members of the Tangent Projects team are - Tsering Frykman-Glen, Constance Flint, Elvira Lopez, Lizette Nin and Marina Rubio. All positions are voluntary and unpaid.

If you are interested in getting involved with Tangent Projects, please email info@tangent-projects.com and we will respond as soon as we can.
